MassBays, MIT Sea Grant, the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority, and NERACOOS are very excited to announce registration for a symposium to bring together people conducting research and monitoring efforts across the Gulf of Maine.

The 2025 Gulf of Maine Monitoring & Research Symposium will convene monitoring program coordinators and researchers, data-users and policymakers to:

  • Hear from invited speakers Janet Duffy-Anderson Ph.D. (Chief Science Officer for the Gulf of Maine Research Institute), Damian Brady Ph.D. (Biological Oceanographer at University of Maine) and Jon Witman Ph.D. (Professor of Biology at Brown University) about the drivers of change in the Gulf of Maine, and current efforts to highlight the need for action.
  • Through a series of talks, learn about ongoing coastal water quality and habitat monitoring programs in the Gulf of Maine.
  • Discover ongoing research efforts that characterize the changing physical and ecological conditions in the Gulf of Maine.

Join us for a discussion to:

  • Articulate needs for new or re-imagined monitoring and research to document and address changing conditions.
  • Explore opportunities to continue discussion and create collaborations to advance Gulf of Maine research and monitoring programs.

Registration closes on April 1. Presenters attend at no cost but are asked to please register. Student pricing and scholarships are available.
